Kimberly Funderburk
February 2017

CONGRATULATIONS Kimberly! It is our pleasure to recognize Kimberly Funderburk, with Lancaster County DSS. Thank you, Kimberly, for outstanding service to children and families!

“Kimberly is a Family Preservation worker who recently impressed me by the care she took when she had to bring two little boys into foster care. She spent several hours with the children to help them with the transition to foster care which is often a traumatic experience. Despite all of the demands on her to accomplish the many tasks required when a child enters care, Kimberly took the time to sit with the children, talk with them and make sure they were comfortable and they felt safe. This moment can make a big difference for a child and how they view their foster care experience, so I was deeply appreciative of how she handled it. I also believe Kimberly is deserving of this nomination because she is a strong advocate for all of our children, not just those on her caseload. Kimberly is not a Foster Care worker, but we had an office challenge in November to help spread the message that Lancaster needs more foster homes and Kimberly took the time to post 55 recruitment flyers on social media and throughout the county in local businesses and organizations. Yesterday, Lancaster still had 45 Family Preservation children that needed sponsors for Christmas gifts…Kimberly secured a major donor to sponsor ALL 45 CHILDREN!!! We are so lucky to have someone who is thoughtful, caring, and committed to children in the way Kimberly is.”
