Vonzella Smith
December 2018

CONGRATULATIONS Von! It is our pleasure to recognize Vonzella Smith, with Region 5 Initial Licensing. Thank you, Vonzella, for outstanding service to children and families!

A few statements from families Von has worked with: “She never missed an appointment and always did what she said she would do.” “We had a few times where we felt overwhelmed, but Ms. Smith always encouraged us.” “She always made us feel as if we were a priority.”

A message from her Supervisor: “Vonzella Smith was employed with McCormick County DSS for six years, serving primarily as a foster care case manager and licensing worker. She retired in 2012 and rejoined the agency part-time in 2014 to help with licensing back logs in Aiken County and has been working with Region 5 Initial Licensing since it began in 2015.

She has truly been a great asset to Region 5 and DSS. She is professional, dependable, no-nonsense and knowledgeable, all traits required to complete great and accurate home studies. She is diligent and efficient and she has been the sole Initial Licensing Coordinator in all twelve Region 5 Counties since June 2015, with the exception of 6 months.

Vonzella has really been the glue that has held Region 5 Licensing together over the last three years. With the challenges of starting a new program, I have always been confident in knowing I had a reliable employee in Vonzella as she has kept our new license applications moving forward and provides a positive attitude for the team. I am grateful to have her on my team.”

Congratulations, Vonzella! It is our privilege to honor you as December’s Social Worker of the Month!
