Paula Curtin
August 2018

CONGRATULATIONS Paula! It is our pleasure to recognize Paula Curtin, with Region 2 Initial Licensing in the York County DSS office. Thank you, Paula, for outstanding service to children and families!

Paula has been working with the Initial Licensing Unit since 2016, licensing families primarily in York, Union, Lancaster and Chester counties. Paula’s thorough attention to detail and amazing work ethic has garnered her rave reviews from the families she works with. One family had this to say, “When you’re starting down a new path and you’re not given a road map or even basic directions, it is easy to get overwhelmed. Paula was not just a GPS, but a personal tour guide willing to hold our hands along the journey. Paula met with us within a week of the first phone call and we quickly became members of the PC (Paula Curtin) fan club. Even when there wasn’t anything going on, she checked in just to say, “nothing is going on.” I will honestly say, had it not been for Paula, we would likely have backed out of this process very early on. She made us feel like we had a friend at DSS working with us to make our foster dreams a reality. Since becoming licensed, I’ve actually heard from her more than my current case worker or the case worker of the child placed with us. In short, we ADORE Paula and just wanted to take a few minutes to let you know.”

Paula’s ability to encourage families to get their part done in the licensing process paperwork and home inspections has allowed her to maintain the “top spot” in licensing families in fewer days than any other licensing worker for the last 15 months with an average of 105 days from signature of the application to the date the license is issued.

Thanks, Paula, for caring enough about families and children to go the extra mile!
